TIRED!!!!

UGH!! It's late and I'm exhausted and I can't sleep. My neck hurts. It always gets way out of whack when I have a hospital stay. It's really bad right now, it's been 7 day and we still have at least 4 more to go....

So basically, this is how my week with Lukas has gone: fevers, not eating, uncomfortable, irritable, er visit, labs, go home, fevers, er visit #2, labs, hospital admit, antibiotics, uncomfortable, irritable, infection confirmed- bacteria and yeast, antibiotics, antifungals, uncomfortable, not eating, labs, CT Scan, Bone Scan, Port removal, Bilateral Bone Marrow Aspiration, morphine, antibiotics, antifungals, feeling better, still not eating, antibiotics, antifungals, feeling better, scans clear, bone marrow clean, I'm feeling better!, antibiotics, antifungals, feeling better, eating a tiny bit, antibiotics, antifungals, feeling better, eating a tiny bit, antibiotics, antifungals, feeling better, eating a tiny bit, antibiotics, antifungals, feeling better, eating a tiny bit, antibiotics, antifungals, feeling better, eating a tiny bit, antibiotics, antifungals, feeling better, eating a tiny bit, antibiotics, antifungals, feeling better, eating a tiny bit, antibiotics, antifungals, feeling better, eating a tiny bit......... OH, and throw in 4 Peripheral IV's, about 8 unsuccessful tries at getting a new IV started and now one PICC line later.....

Well, you get the picture! We are done with cancer treatment, we shouldn't have to be here, but that's just how it goes. He got sick when his counts were barely there and it took hold because his little body couldn't fight it. So now we have 8 more days of the antibiotics and antifungals by PICC and then 7 days of oral meds and then we can get a new port put in for the rest of his IVIG infusions so we can get his eyes back to normal.

Even when you are technically "done" with treatments, you are never really done. There is always something that needs to be addressed and treated. Side effects from the cancer or from the therapy meant to kill the cancer will forever haunt us.

I'll have some pics of this week up later. I'm going to try and force myself to sleep.

Dare I say it???

Today we go in for Lukas last (hopefully) round of chemo! I can hardly believe it. Really, I can't even believe we are at this point. It was almost 7 months ago we were told that Lukas had a 20% chance of beating this and here we are with much better odds and we are stepping back out into the light! Wow!

Here are some pics (you've probably seen them already) of him before diagnosis and during treatment. Kleenex please!

(.....ok, having some technical difficuties......with my brain.... it's fried......pics will be up eventually!)
